The Clemente family has been in the concrete business for the last 5 generations, dating back to the 1800s. Through a series of acquisitions and mergers over the years, Bonded Concrete was formed and incorporated in 1964. Bonded concrete continues to be family owned and operated, which promotes a family oriented work atmosphere.
Bonded Concrete continued to grow over the next ten years though joint ventured batch plants on the new construction of Interstate 88, supplying concrete to all the bridges from Oneonta, NY to Schenectady, NY. Bonded Concrete entered into additional cooperative venture supplying concrete in Oceanside, NJ for the construction of a new wastewater treatment plant as well joint-ventured in supplying concrete to the construction of the new Sullivan maximum security prison.
As in most family operated businesses, new family members are added to their operations. Salvatore was joined by three of his sons; Thomas Clemente joined his father in 1977 as an operations manager, Philip Clemente joined as the head of dispatch in that same year, and in 1979, Andrew Clemente joined the company as their in-house engineer.
In the 1980s, Bonded Concrete expanded once again with the addition of the Berlin, NY batch plant and then acquired the first of its highly portable batch plants. This portable batch plant was used to supply three large bridge jobs that ran along the Delaware River.
Salvatore is also joined by three more of his sons. In 1982 Jude Clemente joined as his new operation manager of the aggregate division. In 1986 Carl Clemente joined in sales and management of outside aggregate operations. In 1989 Brendan Clemente joined in sales and quality control as well as portable plant management.
Bonded Concrete continued to grow and expand its operation in the 1990’s with the start of it portable onsite concrete division. The portable division supplied over 400,000 (cu yd) of concrete to projects all over the northeast.
The turn of the century for Bonded Concrete showed continued growth with the acquisition of Connecticut Sand and Stone in North Canaan, CT in 2000 as well as the construction of a new operation in Pittsfield, MA in 2009. The company has continued to grow in its portable division as well with the addition of a portable 12 cu yd high performance central mix concrete plant.
With its substantial growth over the years, the Clemente family continues to hold true to their mission of delivering a personalized and familial approach to Bonded Concrete.
